The Legendary Shack Shakers
The Legendary Shack Shakers have been around for a while and there starting to get noticed and we were very lucky to get an interview with them ! Here's one of m...any upcoming interviews we will be bringing to our page.
All Things Music
For the fans that haven't heard of you or haven't even heard a song what do they need to know about you?
The Legendary Shack Shakers
We've been around twenty years but we seem to be hitting our stride more than ever nowadays. Our biggest claims to fame is that we've had our music in a lot of shows and movies...a famous Geico commercial and the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for HBO's True Blood series. We tour heavily and go to Europe a lot. It's a wild hillbilly blues rock n roll show.
All Things Music
What are your musical influences is there a song by the artist a whole album or just there whole catalog of music that draws you to them?
The Legendary Shack Shakers
I love Muddy Waters, Little Walter and Tom Waits but not just blues guys. I draw a lot from old field recordings of Appalachian banjo players too.
The Essential Little Walter album is, well, essential. Anything cool and old is good for me.
All Things Music
What is your favorite song you've recorded, what makes it important to you? (Obviously most people say there single here and it might be, but feel free to pick a personal track and talk about it)
The Legendary Shack Shakers
"Blood on the Bluegrass" may be my best. "No Such Thing", too. It's hard to pick a favorite though. "Swampblood" got us the most amount of placement business in Hollywood though. However, my favorite recording just might be my solo banjo album "Cattle in the Cane"
All Things Music
If you could open up for three people alive or dead who would it be and where?(Feel free to explain why)
The Legendary Shack Shakers
I would've loved to open for Roscoe Holcomb or Dock Boggs. All of those old timers came from such a different time. It would be fascinating to hear them talk about what things were like back then.
All Things Music
Outside of music what are your favorite hobbies, also any favorite sports or sports teams?
The Legendary Shack Shakers
I'm into ham radio, ha! As antiquated as that sounds, and it is, I love contacting people on the other side of the globe using my homemade wire antenna. There's something spooky and mystical about the shortwave signals that come warbling in at night.
All Things Music
Hope everyone enjoyed the interview and private look into the group like and share this page and the groups.
